Help Your Clients Define Their Goals with the MAC

You've made a great choice in partnering with LeapFrog Small Business to offer them powerful tools to succeed online. But as a Value Added Reseller, there is, in fact, a tremendous value that you add to those tools. Your advice can be invaluable in helping your small business clients achieve their goals. However, first they have to define those goals.

As a Value Added Reseller, your knowledge and consulting services can help your clients set clear and realistic business objectives, define strategies to meet those objectives, and keep them on-task in implementing those strategies.

A helpful tool when having a goal-setting session with your client for their small business site is to remember the M.A.C.

  • Message
  • Attitude
  • Call to Action

The message is critical to their site's success. Aside from their overall marketing message, each individual page should have its own specific, targeted message to their prospective customer. The message might be "We're the low-price leader for handmade wooden widgets." The message should be specific, targeted and precise, and all the copy on the page should support and convey the message.

The attitude, or brand personality, sets the tone and voice for the content. It makes the personal connection with the user and makes them feel like a real human being was responsible for the site and that they'll be dealing with real human beings when doing business with your customer.

The call-to-action is what turns your client's site into an effective sales tool. The call-to-action is the clear message telling the user what they need to do next: submit a contact form, order the product NOW, check out our weekly specials, or sign up for our company newsletter. Each page should have a specific and clear call-to-action. Any page where it's not immediately clear what the user is supposed to do next is a wasted page.
